Lagostina Ticino Non-Stick Skillet Review
See More Aboutcookwarerangescooking equipmentchef's toolsIt's the ease of use and clean-up that endears me to non-stick frypans. But it's true that not all non-stick is created equal - there's a vast difference in non-stick quality and pan construction. When looking for a skillet, I tend to radiate more to trusted brands, making sure to read the specs so I know what I will be using. I also want a coating Teflon Coating that will last. I've been impressed with Lagostina quality in general, so when I saw this particular pan on sale, I jumped at the chance to try one.Product DespcriptionLagostina Ticino Non-Stick Skillet 10" (26 cm) For use with gas, electric and ceramic cooktops; oven use Durable non-stick interior Made without PFOA Perfectly balanced Optimum side slope Ergonomically-designed bakelite handle Durable exterior finish Dishwasher safe Comes in three sizes Learn more from the manufacturer6 Year warranty How the Skillet PerformedMarch 23, 2013 This medium-sized skillet has a very nice coating and feels well balanced when it comes to handling. I love the contoured sides that make it easier to turn eggs or pancakes. After about four months of everyday use, the non-stick coating still looks like new. Mind you, I do use extreme care when it comes to non-stick cookware, but this one seems more durable than some. It's also not often that you see a non-stick manufacturer offer a six-year warranty on their product, so they obviously believe in the durability of this pan. As for performance, results have been Ceramic Coating good as expected and I love not having to use much oil to cook. I mostly handwash this pan and I don't use metal utensils in it. It cleans up in a breeze; even the bottom still looks new. Overall, the frypan looks nice, is a good weight and it's a versatile size. Note that there's not much in way of pan construction details available and given the price, it's probably safe to assume that this skillet does not have significant enhanced construction features to brag about - which is fine for my specific use, which is mostly an egg pan or two meat/poultry portions. According to the pan specifications, you can use this skillet in the oven, but I haven't had any reason to. As for price, this is definitely a piece of Lagostina's lower end cookware collection and most affordable. That said, it rivals more expensive pans with the nice handle, weight distribution and coating.Overall Impression and Related ResourcesThis pan performs as well as expected. I really like the non-stick coating which seems quite durable. In fact, I'm so pleased with this skillet that I just purchased a second one for the camper. This is a very affordable piece of cookware that's easy to use and clean. Lagostinahas been manufacturing cookware since 1901.
