[edit intro]This article discusses the staple food called bread. For Bread the music band Teflon Coatings see Bread (music).(CC) Photo: Hayford Peirce
Homemade basic white bread whose only ingredients are flour, water, salt, and yeast.Bread is a staple food that is generally prepared by the baking of dough, although steaming or frying are alternative techniques. It consists, minimally, of flour and water; salt is used in most cases, as well as a leavening agent such as yeast. There are many varieties of bread, with preferred types varying from region to region. Different kinds may contain sugar, dairy products, spices, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, some of which, however, are used primarily for decorative or flavoring purposes. Although its importance in today's world has been greatly lessened by the wide availability of other nutrious foodstuffs, for many centuries bread was often the primary food for millions of people and of entire cultures, so that bread frequently has a significance beyond mere nutrition. The Lord's Prayer, for instance, contains the line "Give us today our daily bread", and bread has often been called "the staff of life." And a "bread-winner" denotes a household's main economic contributor who may have little to do with literal bread-provision.
Fresh bread is prized for its taste and texture, and retaining its freshness is important to keep it appetizing. Bread that has stiffened or dried past its prime is said to be stale. PTFE Coated Modern bread is often wrapped in paperor plasticfilm, or stored in airtight containers such as a breadboxto keep it fresh longer. Bread that is kept in warm moist environments is prone to the growth of mold. It becomes stale more quickly in the low temperature of a refrigerator, although by keeping it cool, mold is less likely to grow. A good way to keep bread fresh is to put it in the freezer, thus allowing it to stay fresh for several weeks.

Photo Caption Make a healthy alternative to the traditional deep-fried fish and chips.Photo Credit Jupiterimages/liquidlibrary/Getty ImagesEating fish increases the heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids in your diet, but frying the fish diminishes the health benefits. When you fry fish, it may taste delicious, but the frying process adds a significant amount of fat. The oil is absorbed into the batter, Ceramic Coating making it crispy, but bad for your health. Baking fish is a lower-fat alternative. Use your oven to create a fish that's tasty as well as good for your health.

Step 1Select a fish that isn't too meaty. Thinner fish, such as tilapia, sole or orange roughy, cooks more rapidly and gives a crunchier finish.
Step 2Prepare the baking sheet for cooking by either coating it with nonstick cooking spray or covering it with a piece of parchment paper.
Step 3Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 4Bread or batter the fish using your normal process. Typically, you dip the fish fillet in a beaten egg, then dredge it to coat it in seasoned breadcrumbs, breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese or crushed cornflakes, Ceramic Coating depending on your recipe.

How Do I Revive Nonstick Pans

Print this articleOver time and frequent use non stick pans start to have food sticking to the surface. This happens even if owners have treated the pan well and have performed routine maintenance. Nevertheless, these damaged non stick pans can be revived. A little effort through a process using a few household products, such as a nonabrasive cleaner and the non stick pan will be letting food go again in no time.Other People Are Reading

Whitford's Sol-Gel Nonstick Coating Now Improved in Three Important Ways.

Fusion[R], Whitford's Sol-Gel Nonstick Coating, Now Improved in Three Important Ways.Elverson, PA, February 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Whitford launchedFusion in 2011. Fusion is a coating system based on sol-gel technology,a hybrid of organic and inorganic chemistryinorganic chemistry, the study of all the elements and their compounds with the exception of carbon and its compounds, which fall under the category of organic chemistry. common to ceramicengineering.Fusion has important advantages over other sol-gel so-calledceramic nonsticks, such as a simpler, more user-friendly chemistry thatsimplifies application (most sol-gels involve complicated chemistry).Plus Fusion is the only sol-gel nonsticknon·stick adj.Permitting easy removal of adherent food particles: a frying pan with a nonstick surface.nonstickAdjective with a legal letter verifyingthat it is compliant with the EU and US FDA for food contact. Fusion is a coating system basedon sol-gel technology, a hybrid of organic and inorganic chemistrycommon to ceramic engineering.1. Better release:Sol-gel nonsticks by definition of their unique chemistry havenever had the release of today's PTFE-based nonsticks (PTFE has thelowest coefficient of frictioncoefficient of frictionn. pl. coefficients of frictionThe ratio of the force that maintains contact between an object and a surface and the frictional force that resists the motion of the object. of any known solid), but Fusion isgetting close. New Fusion has significantly better release than allother sol-gel nonsticks we've tested.2. Better stain resistance:Sol-gel coatings as a category tend to have good stain resistance. But new technology has taken Fusion's ability to resist staining ofall kinds even further. Recent tests using tomato sauce, boiled down ina Fusion pan for 15 minutes, show how resistant Fusion is to thissubstance notorious for its staining. After a simple rinse and a gentlewipe with a sponge, Fusion showed no staining whatsoever.3. Improved gloss:Fusion's improved technology enables an extra-dense surfacethat offers several benefits. One, of course, is the improved stainresistance mentioned. Another is a surface so compact, so devoid ofsurface irregularities, that it gives a remarkably high gloss - higherthan all other sol-gel nonsticks tested. This means that any pots orpans coated with Fusion have much more eye-catching shine at point ofsale. For more detailed information on new Fusion, contact Whitford:Telephone: 610-286-3500. How to Cook Frozen Mushrooms

Photo Caption White button mushrooms develop a deep, meaty flavor when cooked.Photo Credit Goodshoot/Goodshoot/Getty ImagesMushrooms aren't just for salad bars or topping burgers anymore. Mushrooms, besides being delicious, offer surprising nutritional benefits, containing copper, potassium, B vitamins, and selenium. Having a package of frozen mushrooms in your freezer means you'll be able to make a yummy side dish whenever the craving strikes.Ceramic Coating
Step 1Place a skillet over medium heat. Heating the pan empty makes fat spread more easily and decreases the likelihood of sticking. If you're using a nonstick skillet, spray with nonstick spray before putting it on the burner; this helps protect the nonstick coating.
Step 2Place your butter in the skillet and swirl the skillet to spread the butter over the bottom as it melts. Cook the butter until it stops foaming and smells slightly nutty. Using room-temperature butter helps; it melts faster. Ceramic Coatings The liquids in room temperature butter are also less likely to burn while you wait for the solids in the butter to liquefy.

Environment's stuck with nonstick coatings.

Environment's stuck with nonstick coatings. The family of nonstick materials that includes Teflon can degrade into pollutants that persist in the environment, new research suggests. Known as fluoropolymers, these Teflon Coatings get their tough and slippery traits from fluorinefluorine (fl`ərēn, –rĭn), gaseous chemical element; symbol F; at. no. 9; at. wt. 18.998403; m.p. −219.6°C;; b.p. −188.14°C;; density 1. atoms strongly bonded to the materials' carbon backbones. Manufacturers use the materials in products ranging from frying pans and other kitchen items to engines and electrical insulation. Scott A. Mabury of the University of TorontoResearch at the University of Toronto has been responsible for the world's first electronic heart pacemaker, artificial larynx, single-lung transplant, nerve transplant, artificial pancreas, chemical laser, G-suit, the first practical electron microscope, the first cloning of T-cells, and his colleagues heated a variety of fluoropolymers to 360 [degrees] C and 500 [degrees] C. In both cases, a version of nuclear magnetic resonancenuclear magnetic resonance: see magnetic resonance. nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)Selective absorption of very high-frequency radio waves by certain atomic nuclei subjected to a strong stationary magnetic field. analysis tuned to detect fluorine showed that the materials broke down into several undesirable products. One of these, called trifluoroacetate (TFATFA Teach For AmericaTFA Thyroid Foundation of AmericaTFA Trifluoroacetic AcidTFA Trans Fatty AcidTFA Two Factor Authentication (computer security authentication)TFA Texas Forensic AssociationTFA Total Fatty Acids ), is toxic to plants, and there's no evidence that it degrades in the environment. Environmental concentrations are low now but could eventually build to troublesome levels, say the researchers. Other breakdown products included long-lasting fluorine- and chlorine-rich carboxylic acids, which might have negative health and environmental effects because animal tissues absorb them, Mabury's group reports in the July 19 NATURE. Moreover, Mabury says the team was surprised to find ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbonschlorofluorocarbons (klōr'əflr`əkär'bənz, klôr'–) (CFCs), organic compounds that contain carbon, chlorine, and fluorine atoms. (CFCs) and greenhouse gases known as fluorocarbons coming from the heated materials. The researchers discovered the chemical cocktail while trying to solve a riddle, says Mabury. PTFE Coated Several years ago, scientists realized that gases known as hydrochlorofluorocarbonshydrochlorofluorocarbons: see under chlorofluorocarbons. and hydrofluorocarbonshydrofluorocarbons: see under chlorofluorocarbons. , which have replaced ozone-destroying CFCs in many products, break down in the atmosphere to form TFA. However, the amount of TFA measured in the environment is much higher than this process could supply. Using environmental models depicting TFA's diffusion into Toronto rainwater, Mabury's group found evidence that the widespread heating of fluoropolymers could produce the missing TFA. Among the sources for such heat are engines and open burning of household trash, Mabury notes. This is "a plausible explanation for the observed amounts of [TFA] in rainwater around and downwind of urban areas," comments Tim Wallington, an atmospheric chemist with the Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Mich. Even so, he says, the benefits of such coatings currently outweigh their risks. Mabury agrees. "I'm not getting rid of my frying pans," he says. Still, since TFA sticks around for so long, researchers ought to keep an eye onto watch.- Shak.See also: Eye it, adds Thomas M. Cahill of Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. "In order to do that, we need to know how the stuff is getting into the environment," he says. Substances That Wipe Their Ass With the Laws of Physics

Physics is a bastard that can't be trusted. Just walk off a cliff and see how willing it is to turn on your "I love science!" ass with the slightest provocation. Luckily, humanity has its ways of sticking it to the laws of matter and motion. We pointed itout before, but it's worth reiterating that modern geniuses are more than capable of mooning physics with the twin butt-cheeks of innovation and technology.
#6. Graphene Can Do Almost AnythingAmerican Graphite
Visible to the human eye in a layer that's only one atom thick, able to bend into shapes that would make your mom blush (no small feat, the strumpet), and pound-for-pound quite probably the strongest material in the world -- graphene is undoubtedly a bad motherfucker.
In fact, it shows incredible properties in almost every field of strength and conductance. It transports electrons 10 times faster than silicon, and may soon be replacing itas the go-to material for transistors and computer parts. If that's not impressive enough for you, how about the fact that graphene is technically a plastic, so it should have no business conducting electricity -- yet here it goeslike it ain't no thing.
BBC, via Youtube
It's the plastic equivalent of that cool guy at the bar who keeps calling people "baby girl."
We're talking about "charging iPhones within five seconds" conductivity here. Imagine a world with electric cars that recharge as quickly as filling your tank with gas, or paper-thin foldable plastic phones that recharge the instant you set them down -- that's exactly what graphene offers.
BBC, via Youtube
Great. Even douchier phone snobs. Thanks a lot, you stupid scientific miracle.
And then there's the slight matter of its strength. Mix graphene with metals, and it increases their resilience 500-fold. But hell, you've been around the block. You've seen a few fancy new materials in your day -- lithium-ion batteries? Carbotanium? -- we'll forgive you if you stifle a yawn at mere strength and conductivity claims.
So here, meet graphene aerogel, one of the lightest materials in the world-- seen resting on a delicate plant without so much as bending the spines.
Zhejiang University
That's right, the future will finally give us a phone that's safe to accidentally drop on our balls.
So yeah, our friend Gary told us he heard that graphene is currently taking applications for "its bitch," if you wanna go ahead and submit a resume.
#5. LiquiGlide Makes a Fool Out of FrictionLiquiGlide
LiquiGlideis an insane, super slippery coating that prevents literally anything from sticking to it. Here's a LiquiGlide-coated ketchup bottle:
LiquiGlide, via Youtube
Good things come to those who don't waste their entire day trying to eat fries.
That was Round 1. Here's Round 2, in which LiquiGlide takes on a new challenger -- mayonnaise:
LiquiGlide, via Youtube
We wouldn't have thought mayonnaise could move any grosser, but there it goes.
Hahaha, you have no power here, condiments.
The obvious worry (since it's being demonstrated on food containers) is whether or not the stuff is safe for consumption -- after all, even non-stick mayo isn't worth it if it gives you a night of Olestra-caliber non-stick intestines. Fear not: LiquiGlide is made of completely edible, flavorless materials. Feel free to coat your dishes with the stuff, and never again worry about washing up!
Of course, you will have to worry about the slightest arm motion sending your frictionless mac-and-cheese Frisbeeing off your plate and across the living room -- but hey, just LiquiGlide the walls and you're all set. And the floors. And the couch. LiquiGlide everything.
LiquiGlide.
Everything.

EVERYTHING.
Who would have thought the world wound end this way? Not with a bang, but the soft shuck of everything on Earth softly sliding away into space.
#4. Spray-on Batteries Turn Anything Into a Power SourceHemera Technologies/AbleStock.com
One of the greatest daily struggles of modern life is the Scourge of the Empty Battery. If you've ever been three quarters of the way to "there" when your tablet died and all of your PornHub tabs cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced, science has got your back. Researchers at Rice University are not the first to tackle the battery issue, but their solution is by far the most elegant: They're planning to wave the conventional battery goodbye and replace it with a battery compound that can be spray-painted on any surface.Non Stick Coating
Jupiterimages/Stockbyte/Getty Images
"Yes, batteries. Now who feels stupid, officer?"
Here's how it works: A conventional lithium-ion battery is made of the anode, cathode, and electrolyte. These ingredients are assembled to form the physical battery that we all know and are constantly disappointed in, like the parents of a Liberal Arts major moving back home after graduation. The scientists turned it into spray form by simply liquefying each of the components, presumably while stroking a white cat and muttering about how they've failed for the last time.

The technique seems to work on pretty much any material, from steel to wood to ... novelty beer steins?
Ajayan Lab/Rice University, Jeff Fitlow/Rice University
Time to party like a properly certified electrician.
Hey, nobody said you had to science sober, did they? All you have to do is spray the battery over a surface ...
Rice University, via Youtube
... and it can start powering your device instantly.
Rice University, via Youtube
"At last, the world will know my preferred side dish."
Researchers have found that an object turned into a power source with the battery-spray treatment is currently able to keep a set of 40 LEDs working for six hours, and it's completely rechargeable. However, as enticing as powering your laptop with a novelty drinking accessory may seem, it's worth remembering that the technology is not exactly at commercial stage yet. Constructing a functional spray-on battery requires multiple layers of different "paints," and attaching one to your gadget of choice requires a fair bit of creative wiring. But it's all worth it when you power on your Xbox using only that Amish man's beard and note the exact second he sees the devil.Water Based Coatings

Reviews of Bialetti Aeternum Nonstick Cookware Review

User ReviewsBialetti Aeternum Nonstick Cookware ReviewUser Rating5 out of 5Love this Cookware !!March 24, 2013By Shelby1955I have been using a high end stainless cookware for over 40 years which was great when I was young. Now that I am older, it's seems to get more difficult to pick up the Stainless Steel cookware especially when they have something in them, still great cookware though, and they are still my first choice. But since I had bought this cookware set of 5 pans and 4 lids, I find myself reaching for those first! I like they way the handles feel, the way they cook the food, and most of all the SIMPLE clean up. They never stain, but you can lose some color is you scoot them around on the burner or bang them around too much hitting something with them. I didn't think I would like the color, but I like the white in the bottom...really I can see what every thing is doing. I have to give them a 5 star along with my stainless steel cookware die hard product! Oh, and this cookware is way easier to clean!! Thanks for making such a great cookware!7 of 8 people found this review helpful.1 out of 5horrible cookwareMarch 15, 2013By mjb23cdb33The skillet I bought was beautiful, but it is the worst cooking vessel I have ever used.I paid $39.00 FOR IT.I AM SO GLAD that I only bought one.I have been cooking for 60 years and I know what I am talking about.I'm sorry, but there is not one good thing I can say about it other than it is pretty.1 of 5 people found this review helpful.2 out of 5Look good, doesn't performJanuary 07, 2013By meygerI used the set for about a month before repacking them up and bringing them back for a refund. I found that the bottoms chipped much too easily even when I was trying to be gentle in placing them and taking them off of the stove. I really was careful, they still chipped. And if you make the mistake of not centering the pan on the cooktop, and it;s too close to the hot flame, the rubber/plastic piece connecting to the handle will singe and smell of burning. If you cook quickly, and make even one mistake in banging them, you pay for it. just not worth it.13 of 15 people found this review helpful.5 out of 5Love these pans !!October 28, 2012By Katt2468I have these pans in 3 sizes and have used them on a daily basis for a year now. I like the fact that- Bialetti Aeternum cookware is coated with what the company calls a ""nano-ceramic"" coating.Teflon Coating It's a water-based coating comprised of titanium and silicate particles (the main component of glass). I feel this is a healthier coating to cook on. I have cooked with these pans excessively and even left them on high heat by mistake and they are still in great shape and with a thin layer of oil provide a non-stick surface. My only suggestion when using these pans is to cook with a medium heat because that is all that's necessary since it cooks so evenly. I highly recommend these pans !12 of 12 people found this review helpful.3 out of 5CautionOctober 10, 2012By freemar57We have had this pan for three months, and at first we loved it. Our caution is to never cook blueberry pancakes, as the blueberrys will leave a stain and then other foods start to stick. We returned it to Bed Bath and Beyond, and they replaced it without hesitation. We will have to see how long the new one hold up. For the most part satisfied.3 of 3 people found this review helpful.5 out of 5Love this pan!!!!July 14, 2012By feralcat_1I have had my skillet for about 5 months now and I use it every day. I have fried steak, potatoes; made a fresh tomato sauce for spaghetti; sauteed onions and mushrooms; cooked eggs every way imaginable, I can only say that I ""Love this pan!!!"" Cleaning is as easy as 1,2,3, it has not discolored on me, and it actually cooks everything faster than any of my other pans! Highly recommend this product!!!11 of 11 people found this review helpful.5 out of 5Works perfectlyMay 27, 2012By nminohioI initially bought the small pan to make omelettes. Works perfectly for all egg cooking (which is pretty much all I've used this pan for). I have used that pan 10 or 12 times with no change in the condition of the pan. The surface releases well, is soooo easy to clean, and the color is still white. I've now purchased the larger pan and have used it several times on non-egg cooking with the same outcome. I have high end All-Clad pots and pans, but I prefer these pans for quick morning cooking because it's so easy to use. Also, I do not care for my pans as well as other reviewers-- I stack all my pans in a relatively small cabinet without much care. So far, no chips-- not saying it won't happen-- it's just not my experience.4 of 4 people found this review helpful.1 out of 5Aeternum...a disappointmentApril 16, 2012By peggywesI have used the Bialetti Aeternum saute pan for four months now, and already am disappointed in it. Initially, I loved the way it released the food from its surface, and cleaned up with only a wipe of a dry paper towel. I have followed the manufacturer's care guidelines implicitly, never using higher than medium heat, and never cleaning with abrasive cleaners, only the paper towel I mentioned. After four months, using the pan 2 to 3 times a week, on a smooth ceramic cooktop, this is what I have experienced: Food no longer releases easily; it sticks. I must scour the cooked food film out of the pan, with a fine nylon mesh pad; no more paper towel cleanup. The inside white surface is turning gray. The outside red surface is chipping off. This pan has been well cared for, yet it is not holding up. I will NOT buy another piece of this cookware.10 of 10 people found this review helpful.1 out of 5the worst I have ever hadApril 08, 2012By Priscilla6758I bought this pan when It first came out, with only the first use the coating around the edge of the pan had becom damage just from storage, & I use pads inside each pan I have to prevent damages, So I took it back to the store with recipt to exchange it, then the next one went bad quick the handel became loose & the surface turned a ugly burnt on shade of ivory & brown, I saved the sleeve it came with , with recipt attached to it, Then it boasted a 5 year warrenty, I PAID $17.65 to send it back with letter & requested my money back, they didn't do that !!!! they sent me another stupid pan !!!! I want everyone to know it may be perfict for the person that doesn't cook at all ever, or just don't buy this pan ever anyone, I hate this pan. & now there is no warrenty on the label. guess I know why.1 of 1 people found this review helpful.PTFE Coating Spray

Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane Clear Gloss For Wooden Doors

My husband and I are in the process of winterizing our home, and one of the recommendations from our home energy rating was to install brush weather stripping on all of our exterior doors. We have three doors, each made of a different wood. The dining room is maple, the entry way is oak and the front door is a golden oak. Luckily we were able to find these "brush weather stripping" items at the Home Depot, but they were plain pieces of wood with a brush on the bottom half, and the wood portion needed to be stained and sealed. That's when we purchased Minwax stains and polyurethane.Non Stick Coatings Description
Luckily for us, Minwax made this urethane available in a nice small jar, containing just 8 ounces. We only needed a very small amount, so the size was perfect for us! The front of the container says this is a fast drying polyurethane clear gloss, and that it will provide superior durability and give us long lasting protection and beauty to our wood. The urethane is a clear, oil based, durable protective finish.Ceramic Coatings
This product is applicable for furniture, doors, floorsand cabinets and all wood surfaces.
Application
This product couldn't be easier to apply! You don't shake or stir the product like you would with Minwax stain, as you don't want to get any extra bubbles in the liquid urethane that could end up on your wood. The wood needs to be dry and in good condition, and after you have sanded it smooth, you apply one thin coat of the Minwax to the wood, using either a natural bristle or foam brush. After it has dried for 3-4 hours, you sand it down and apply another coat. A third coat can be applied if desired.
Thoughts
We remodeled our kitchen a couple of years ago, and our new Anderson dining room door has a clear polyurethane coating on it. It is a clear gloss that lets the beauty of the wood shine through, and it quite beautiful. I was hoping that this Minwax Clear Gloss Polyurethane would match the doors, but it was a real big disappointment. I followed the directions exactly, and even applied three coats, but my wood weather stripping never looked like it was coated, and it had NO gloss to it at all. The product gave off a odor that lingered for hours, and I recommend doing this in a well ventilated room. True to their claim, this did dry very quickly.
Clean up was not easy, but I have since noticed that Minwax makes a clear polyurethane that is water based, and I would purchase that the next time. I had to throw out my paint brush as I could not get it clean after using this product. It called for using mineral spirits or paint thinner to clean up with, but again I didn't have good results.
To put it bluntly, it looked simply like a wet piece of maple.Non Stick Pan Coating Considering this said it gave a gloss finish, I expected the wood to end up with somewhat of a shine, but that was not my experience. There is NO gloss to the wood whatsoever. I am very disappointed in this product. If you use it, I hope you have better results than I did.PTFE Coating

She’s the award-winning author of 9 cookbooks, including The Cake Bible, The Pie and Pastry Bible, The Bread Bible, Rose’s Celebrations, among others. Her blogboasts more than 1 million unique visitors, and she’s also a contributor to magazines like Fine Cooking and Reader’s Digest, and she’s often a guest on TV shows, such as Martha Stewart, the Today Show and Charlie Rose.PTFE Coating
Rose has partnered with NewMetro Design, creators of the BeaterBlade, to create a line of specialty cookware and bakeware items under her name. Here are some of the products that are part of the Rose collection.
The BeaterBlade:The BeaterBlade is a patented electric stand mixer attachment that’s designed to mix and incorporate ingredients without the need to stop and scrape the bowl with a spatula. The BeaterBlade has wings on both sides of the mixer paddle, which continuously scrape the sides of the bowl. The BeaterBlade enables cooks to mix batters up to 50 percent faster (the company claims that a cheesecake batter that mixes in 13 minutes with a traditional stand mixer blade can be mixed in only 7 minutes with a BeaterBlade), and the elimination of the stop-and-start action can help reduce wear on the mixer’s motor. The Rose BeaterBlade has exclusive Rose “wings” and comes in models that are compatible with several different stand mixer brands, including both KitchenAid’s tilt-head mixers and lift bowl mixers. The Caramel Pot:The Rose Caramel Pot has an eco-friendly, light grey ceramic nonstick cooking surface that is free of PTFE and PFOAand easily releases even sticky caramel so that it pours out completely and cleans quickly. The 1 ¾ quart pot has a thick, encapsulated aluminum base for fast and even heating. It has double pouring spots so it can be used with either the left and right hands, and the cast stainless steel handle stays cool to the touch. Rose’s distinctive signature, adorned with swirls and stars, is etched on the back of the handle. The pot’s shape and size also make it ideal for melting butter and preparing cream sauces.Cook & Store:The Rose Cook & Store is a multi-functional saucepan that can also serve as a measuring cup, mixing bowl and lidded food storage container. The 3.5 quart bowl is made of heavy gauge, nonreactive stainless steel, with an aluminum disc-encapsulated base for fast, even heating, and is induction compatible. It is designed with flared sides that helps facilitate reductions, which makes it an ideal pan for making sauces, and a stay-cool handle. The interior of the pan is marked with precise measurements, so ingredients can be measured directly into the bowl, and a pouring spout is handy for pouring out cooked contents, or for using the pan as a mixing bowl for batters or liquid ingredients. Finally, a heat-resistant molded lid has a tight seal, meaning that pastry creams, custards and other recipes can be cooked in the pan and transferred to the refrigerator for storage.Crepe & Pancake Griddle:The Rose Crepe & Pancake Griddle is 11 inches in diameter, the ideal size for making French crepesor American-style pancakes, and has very low sides, enabling the cook to flip crepes and pancakes easily. It is made of stainless steel with a thick encapsulated aluminum disk, and a ceramic-based, light grey PFOA-free nonstick coating. The ergonomically shaped cast stainless steel handle stays cool to the touch, and has a loop for hanging. It is suitable for all cooktops, including induction, and is oven-safe up to 350˚F.Double Boiler:The 2-quart Rose Double Boiler is cleverly designed, one-piece pot that has double walls and an internal water chamber that heats water without releasing steam, which can ruin chocolate as it melts. Water is poured into the flip-top opening in the stay-cool handle. It is constructed of stainless steel with an aluminum encapsulated base and has a flared rim for pouring, a rounded shape for thorough whisking, and measurement markers etched onto the interior of the pot. The double boiler can be used for melting chocolate and cooking and reheating custards and cream and cheese sauces.MixerMate:The MixerMate is designed to make handheld electric mixers more effective and easy to use. The 3-quart bowl had a narrow base and extra tall sides, reminiscent of a funnel, that enables ingredients to be mixed more thoroughly and efficiently. It’s particularly effective for quickly whipping cream, even without chilling the bowl first. The bowl has a non-skid base, a built-in handle and pouring spouts on either side. It is dishwasher safe and available in Rose red and white.More Celebrity Chef-Designed Products5 Questions with Guy Fieri5 Questions with Duff GoldmanA Look at Cat Cora's Cooking EquipmentRelated ArticlesBeaterBlade Review - BeaterBlade for KitchenAid Mixers - Accessory for Cuis...Ceramic CoatingHow to Make Dairy-Free Buttercream VideoThe Rose Bowl Stadium - The Rose BowlPyrexTeardrop BowlBeaterBlade Mixer Attachment Review

Terrible Stadiums You Won't Believe Were Actually Built

Modern sports stadiums basically double as shopping malls or luxury resorts. They are marvels of modern design that sometimes make the game being played within their confines seem like the least interesting thing you could be doing while you're there. Designing a stadium is an art, though, and the simplest mistakes can lead to absolute chaos for teams on the field. Mistakes likeTeflon Coating...
#3. The Metrodome's White Plastic Bag RoofA lightweight roof that's held up using a stream of air blowing from inside is a fine idea, provided your stadium isn't built in a place where large amounts of snow are known to accumulate. Minneapolis is not that place. But they do indeed have such a roof -- you might remember it from those videos of it collapsing like so many Minnesota Vikings seasons before it a couple of years back.

When the roof wasn't crashing down from the sky, it could be counted on to hide the things that were. Like baseballs, for example, which were next to impossible to spot on account of that flimsy roof being as white as the snow that so regularly destroys it.
The Minnesota Twins finally beat a path out of that dump and into a new outdoor stadium (which is a treat in its own right on those cold opening days of April in Minnesota), but the Vikings still call the Metrodome home. No wonder they're thinking about moving to Los Angeles.

"Yeah, maybe the beach would be nice."
#2. Rogers Centre's Sex RoomsRogers Centre is the current home of the Toronto Blue Jays. The structure includes a hotel. Some of the rooms in that hotel overlook the field, so you can literally watch a Major League game from your hotel room. It's a fascinating idea that would probably have gone down as one of the best in stadium design history were it not for one major oversight. Just as people in their hotel rooms can see the game outside, people at the game can see inside the hotel rooms. Read that again if you need to. They can see inside the hotel rooms. We all know what happens in hotel rooms, and things were no different at Rogers Centre.
Fan IQ
This is the tamest photo we could find.
Since the stadium opened, fans have been privy to impromptu amateur porn so frequently that an entire team of people are now employed by the stadium solely to patrol those hotel room windows, ready to leap into action at the first sign of a stray dong or nipple. It's a problem that could be solved pretty easily if only tinted window technology was available in Canada.
#1. Maracana Stadium's Urine DamageMaracana Stadium is one of the crown jewels of Rio de Janeiro. It hosts Brazil's important soccer matches and is on track to host the World Cup Final in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. It's also slowly falling apart, because people won't stop pissing on it.

"Urinals? The world is our urinal."
Fans hoping to not miss a second of that good time soccer "action" have taken to skipping those brutally long stadium bathroom lines and letting it flow on whatever crucial support structure happens to be closest by, a shocking act of hooliganism from the otherwise notoriously timid and well-behaved soccer crowd.Non Stick Coating
As this has been happening for decades, all that acidic urine has actually corroded the stadium so much that it now has severe structural damage. To make matters worse, fans take losses out on what few bathrooms there are, resulting in them being constantly out of service. The damage itself is so dire that an anti-urine squad has been patrolling the stadium and using force to stop fans from going anywhere they please. Renovations to gear up for the World Cup are attempting to fix these problems, but the words "structural damage by urine" never look good in a real estate report.
